width__hover_enabled=”off” locked=”off” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n Before the premiere, I spoke to Jakub G\u0105sowski, the show's co-director and actor.<\/em><\/p>\n Jakub G\u0105sowski:<\/strong> My love of Frank Sinatra and his music was the main driving force behind undertaking the kind of show we just did: SINATRA 100+. This is my long-standing passion for this music, for swing music, for jazz music, for big band music, where there are trumpets, trombones, saxophones, a whole rhythm section. All of that always resonated in my head. My dream has always been to perform with a big band, and for the last couple of years, since I came to theatre school and stood on the stage of the Theatre Collegium Nobilium I thought to myself: yes, this is where I would like to do a show about Frank Sinatra one day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n It was six years ago, in 2015, when I passed the drama school and I walked onto the boards of this theatre for the first time, even before the renovation. And I thought to myself at the time: yes, this is the place and it would be great to make it happen one day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n I studied acting with a major in dramatic acting, but I have always sung. Singing has always been close to my heart. It was something I wanted to tie my life to, and for it to be at least a branch from the tree of my various occupations and what I do.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Yes, the axis of the whole, the performance - the show - the theatre, the concert, is the songs. Some are brilliantly translated by Mr Marcin Sosnowski, actor, director and translator. Most of the songs are translated into Polish. Some are in English, because that is the language in which Frank Sinatra performed his songs. In addition to the songs, which are the core, there are all sorts of scenes, all sorts of skits, step, choreography and a story about Frank Sinatra's life. Overall, it is a combination of different art forms. If I had to say in a nutshell what it is, it is a show.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As well as being a great singer, he was also a great man. He had a life like a film. His famous phrase sums it up best: \"You only live once, but I'm living now in such a way that it's absolutely enough for me\".<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n He had, of course. He had ups and downs. He has indeed had moments of fame and brilliance. But he had moments when for a couple of years the phone didn't ring, there were no proposals. By now everyone was putting a cross on him. It was like that. There are also, of course, mafia plots, male-female plots. The mafia threads are only hypotheses, it's not certain, but there are suspicions, which we also show in a light form in the play.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Oh very much so, certainly. Frank Sinatra was choleric by nature. He used to say in interviews that he would get upset very often, get pissed off, shout, but then apologise to everyone. He said he was unable to function otherwise. He was very sharp, but he was also very mild at times. He had very extreme states. That's what Frank Sinatra was like.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n A project that has been sitting in my head for many years, as I said earlier, we have been doing for two years. In the beginning the form was that I would invite a couple of people I knew, with whom we would do the show, with a whole big band. Later, as the project dragged on and got prolonged by covid, we decided to change the premise. We said it would be nice to do something like this to meet as many people as possible who would come and show their passion for this music. Who want to perform it because it's something that means a lot to them. Often we don't know such people because we haven't talked about it before. We decided that the best way to meet as many fans of this music as possible and people in whose veins jazz and swing flows is through casting. We did casting for a lot of people of very different ages.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Absolutely yes. In terms of the cast that is in the show, all of them are connected to the academy. There were also people from outside the academy competing, but it just so happens that our cast are people who are now students at the academy or are recent graduates, like myself for example.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n They will perform: Kamila Najduk<\/strong> - third-year drama acting student, Anna Grochowska<\/strong> - third-year musical theatre acting student, Paulina Pytlak<\/strong> - 2nd year musical theatre acting student, Juliusz Godzina 4th year musical theatre acting student,- 2nd year musical theatre acting student, Juliusz Godzina 4th year musical theatre acting student, Maciej Marcin Tomaszewski<\/strong> - Second-year musical theatre acting student, Krzysztof\u00a0 Godlewski<\/strong> - fourth year drama student and me Jakub G\u0105sowski<\/strong> freshly graduated in dramatic acting. Other creators, equally important, without whom the show would not have taken place are: Grzegorz Kwiecie\u0144<\/strong> - director, actor at the Teatr Narodowy; Monika Hyrlik<\/strong> - third-year student of Theatre Knowledge, producer; Iga Skolimowska<\/strong> - third-year student of Theatre Knowledge, producer; Paulina G\u00f3ral<\/strong> - light director. Paulina really does a wonderful job with the light setting and our collaboration is respectful and understanding. I am very happy that she took part in this adventure with us. You have collaborated Marcin Sosnowski<\/strong> - in the translation of songs and collaboration on the script. And Mr. S\u0142awomir Chwastowski<\/strong> also collaborated on the script.
